Illuminate: Hidden Histories (Creative Writing & Visual Installation Project)

The Youth Advisory Board for The Royal Shakespeare Company was formed to help the organisation better understand and meet the needs of young people. For 'Illuminate: Hidden Histories', they worked with Director Aaron Parsons and Poet Casey Bailey, to explore ways of amplifying hidden voices and stories from our history and the RSC Collection.

In a series of workshops over the summer of 2024, the group crafted a collective piece of creative writing inspired by three actors from the global majority who have played a significant role in the RSC's history - Edric Connor, Paul Robeson and Josette Simon.

This artwork was created within my role as Living Cultural Collections Developer for the RSC, through which I collaborate with communities, artists and other creative practitioners to produce artworks that interrogate, respond to and add to the RSC Collection.
